The False Claims Act permits individuals to file lawsuits on the government’s behalf in order to recover for fraud committed against government programs. Numerous states have enacted their own False Claims Act legislation.
The SEC/CFTC Whistleblower Statute enacted reward programs for individuals who report actionable violations of the Securities and Exchange Act and the Commodity Exchange Act.
The Tax Relief and Health Act of 2006 established the Tax Whistleblower Program to provide incentives for people with knowledge of large scale tax underpayment to disclose their information to the IRS.
